The Karachi Kings kick-started their campaign with a comfortable victory over the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL 2021 opener which was played on Saturday. With a double-header set to take place on Sunday, the weekend promises to be an entertaining one for the cricket fans.

The first match of the double-header Sunday is set to take place between the last season’s finalists Lahore Qalandars and Wahab Riaz-led Peshawar Zalmi. The evening encounter will see Islamabad United lock horns with Multan Sultans.

Islamabad United, who finished last in the points table the previous season will be hoping they can start this season on a winning note. While the last season’s table toppers-Multan Sultans were doing everything right till then Qualifier and will be looking to go further this time around.

The teams have locked horns on 6 occasions and it has always been difficult for the two-spirited teams. They stand three apiece on the head-to-head count and for that reason, we can expect this match to be a closely fought one.

Can Islamabad United put back their nightmare 2020 season behind and come back strong? Or will the Multan Sultans maintain the same standard they showcased last year?

Weather Report

The conditions are ideal for cricket and are expected to be the same for the upcoming days as no rain is forecasted in the coming days. The temperature is expected to be hovering in the 27-24 degree Celsius and the humidity at the peak is forecasted to touch the 18 percent range.

Pitch

The opening match between Karachi and Quetta saw the Quetta side get bundled out for 121. But that serves no justice to the pitch as it is an ideal surface to bat on. Karachi Kings managed to chase down the score with more than 5 overs to spare. With the dew factor expected to come into play, the team winning the toss should be looking to chase. We could be looking at an aggregate of 350-360.

Team News

Islamabad United have one of the best opening pair in the tournament- English hard-hitter Alex Hales and Irish opener Paul Stirling. The two could set the stadiums ablaze and Sultans will have a huge task cut-out in order to dismiss them. United also have a strong middle-order which includes Shadab Khan and Lewis Gregory, who are capable of hitting the ball a long way.

Multan Sultans on the other side have always been a consistent side and it has been mainly due to their batting line-up. Their top-order which includes Chris Lynn, Mohammad Rizwan, and James Vince looks mighty to sustain any bowling attack, and even if one of the batsmen gets into the groove, the game could be well done and dusted in their favor. They also have two vastly experienced players in their side in the form of Pakistan legend- Shahid Afridi and proteas leggie- Imran Tahir.
