With the IPL 2022 mega auction on its way, teams are instructed to reveal the list of four players they would be retaining. Such a small cap ensures that a lot of the prominent names will be up in the auction.
So today, we have a look at 10 players to watch out for in the mega auction.
1) KL Rahul
Several reports have emerged that KL Rahul won't be retained by Punjab. There are even reports suggesting that the opener is likely to lead Royal Challengers Bangalore after Virat Kohli's decision to step down from the captaincy.
A player of his calibre and form would be a great buy for any side. What do you think? Which team will KL Rahul play for in the IPL 2022?
2) Faf Du Plessis
A player who is ageing like fine wine, Faf du Plessis had an exceptional IPL 2021 and was one of the key players in the Chennai Super Kings squad. Chennai have too many players who seem the ideal prospects and thus, we may see Faf in some other jersey or he'll be retained by the Yellow army.
Apart from CSK, which franchise would you want Faf to represent?
3) David Warner
The Australian shut his haters by his performance in the T20 World Cup and the Sunrisers Hyderabad owners must be having a tough time.
Warner was left out of the squad on several occasions in the second phase of IPL 2021 due to poor form but his performance at the T20 World Cup was proof that form is temporary, class is permanent. Warner had already bid adieu to the SRH fans and it will be intriguing to see which team comes forward to buy him.
4) Shreyas Iyer
Very recently, Delhi Capitals revealed that they will be retaining Prithvi Shaw, Axar Patel, Anrich Nortje, and Rishabh Pant. This means that the ex-Delhi skipper would be available for bidding and it will be intriguing to see which team incorporates this talented batsman.
5) Jos Butler
Another player who has been very influential in every franchise he's played for, Jos Buttler will also be one of the players to watch out for in the mega auction.
Butler missed the second phase of the IPL 2021 due to personal reasons but his performance in the T20 World Cup was commendable and several franchises must be keeping tabs on him.
6) Glenn Maxwell
Royal Challengers Bangalore's last season buy, Glenn Maxwell broke his IPL curse and had one of his best IPL seasons in a long time. This followed some great performances in the T20 World Cup as well.
He didn't have the best of the tournament but his contributions were vital for both his country and his IPL side. He will also be an interesting watch.
7) Venkatesh Iyer
The Kolkata Knight Riders player was a breath of fresh air in the tournament. An all-rounder who played like the one carried responsibility in both departments and showed that he can't just play in the middle order but is versatile enough to do the job from anywhere.
Iyer is one of the players who will surely have a lot of bidders.
8) Shahrukh Khan
Another exciting player who played some exceptional knocks in the IPL 2021 is Shahrukh Khan. His form in the second phase did dip but his latest heroics have again put him on the list of players to look for in the mega auction.
His price cap won't be among the elites but his potential as a lower middle-order batsman could be worthy of a spot.
9) Trent Boult
Just like Faf, Trent Boult is another player who has done nothing wrong but may still not be retained by his IPL franchise. We aren't 100% certain but reports suggest that Boult would be in front of the buyers as well and we won't be surprised if one of the newly introduced franchises go all-out for him.
10) Josh Hazlewood
Hazlewood got a decent run of games this season and he was one of the players who learnt a lot from the IPL and executed it to perfection in the T20 World Cup. His length was great, his line was superb, and not many batsmen managed to hit him on a consistent basis. Moving towards becoming an IPL regular, it will be exciting to see which franchise goes for Hazlewood.
