The Kiwis continued their great form at home, as they marked their 5th win in their last 6 matches. Australia on the other side despite having the big names in their side once again ended up on the receiving end.

The second match of the 5-match T20I series is set to be played at the University Oval in Dunedin, this Thursday. The previous encounter saw the hosts dominate the proceedings and finished on the winning side by a huge margin of 53 runs.

The Aussies after winning the toss elected to bowl first which did seem the right decision considering the better win rate teams have experienced chasing at Christchurch. Daniel Sams and Jhye Richardson did provide the much-needed early breakthroughs as openers Guptill and Seifert were dismissed rather cheaply.

It was the Kiwi middle-order batsman Devon Conway who changed the momentum towards New Zealand’s side by scoring a magnificent 99* of 59 balls, ending up a run short of a well-deserved century. The hosts registered 184 runs on the board, the target was never going to be easy for the visitors.

The Baggy Greens never looked threatening in the chase as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The leggie- Ish Sodhi was the standout bowler for the kiwis, picking up 4 wickets for 28 runs in his quota of 4 overs.

Can Kane Williamson and Co. continue their winning run? Or will it be the mighty Australians who bounce back to level the series?

Weather Report

The conditions are expected to be well in favor of cricket as clear skies are expected throughout the course of the day. The temperature is forecasted to be on the lower side, around 13-10 degrees Celsius, and humidity is anticipated to be on the higher side- 81% at the peak.

Pitch

This encounter will be the first T20I to be played at this venue. The strip is expected to be an absolute belter and we could be watching a high-scoring thriller. The team winning the toss should be looking to bat first and put a big total on the board. The recent Super Smash matches played at this venue did witness a few 200 plus scores and with the likes of big hitters like Maxwell and Conway, we might be looking at a huge total.

Team News

The home team would not be looking to make any changes unless and until it is a forced one. The team showcased a wonderful performance in the first T20I and they would be looking at the winning momentum.

Australia on the other side might be considering replacing Kane Richardson as the 30-year old leaked 42 runs in his 4 overs. He is likely to be replaced by Jason Behrendorff, who had a wonderful season in the recently concluded Big Bash League. No other changes are expected in the line-up.
