Expensive overs have always been exciting to watch, and the bowlers have been the victim of batters' carnage.

Yesterday's match was the testament of these expensive overs in IPL to date. Pat-Cummins was slamming from left to right and scored the fastest half-century in IPL history. The Aussie batsman breached the 50-mark in just 14 deliveries.  However, the real showdown came in Daniel Sams's time on the 16th, as he endured the most turbulent time against Cummins.

Rohit Sharma's decision to allow Sams to deliver the 16th over was a blunder as Cummins welcomed the speedster with six, six, four, and six in the first four deliveries, and the last bowl went for a six.

The right-handed batsman made a mockery of Daniel Sams as he scored 35 runs off six deliveries, and KKR secured an easy win against MI.

However, there have been many expensive overs in IPL, and the bowlers have suffered embarrassment at the hands of batters, and we look at the top 5 expensive overs in IPL.

#1 Harshal Patel (Royal Challengers Bangalore)- 37 runs

Sadly, Harsh Patel has been the victim of an expensive over in a match against Chennai Super Kings. In the starting, Harsh Patel was bowling well with 3/14, but things fell apart when he was bowling Ravindra Jadeja.

The left-handed batsman went on a rampage against the bowler as he breached the 36 runs off the final over in the Indian Premier League 2021. He welcomed Harsh Patel two balls with maximums over deep midwicket as Patel delivered a beamer which Jadeja hit another six, and a free-hit came in the next ball. Jadeja didn't let this one go as well. While the rest had two balls, Jadeja ended with a four and six.

#2 Prashanth Parameswaran (Kochi Tuskers)- 37 runs

Prashanth came up against Chris Gayle, who has the habit of smashing sixes and fours in any match.

Chris Gayle is one of those batsmen who don't like boring cricket as he always goes for big runs in the games. In Kochi Tuskers Kerala vs RCB, Prashanth was given to bowl the second over. Chris Gayle was on strike and wasn't about to be upstaged as he had his sights on Parameswaran.

Gayle slammed sixes with the first two balls, and the other four were four, four, six, six and four as Gayle embarrassed Prashanth in those six deliveries, notching up 37 runs.

#3 Daniel Sams (Mumbai Indians)- 35 runs

Daniel Sams is new to the list as he suffered a massive blow at the hands of Pat Cummins. Allowing him to score 35 runs off six deliveries.

This will be the most humiliating moment in his career in cricket; under pressure, Sams couldn't do anything other than see his deliveries going straight to the stands.

#4 Parwinder Awana (Punjab Kings)- 33 runs

In 2014 Parwinder Awana had to face Suresh Raina's agony, who showed no sympathy towards Parwinder Awana, becoming the third most expensive over in IPL history.

In qualifier 2 of 2014, Chennai faced Punjab, and Chennai were the clear favorite in this fixture but Raina wanted to make it a little interesting as he went ballistic in Parwinder's over.

Parwinder got the chance to bowl in the sixth over of the match and did not know what was coming. Parwinder's first delivery, went straight to the stand, while the other four were 6,4,4 no-ball 4,4,4 and Parwinder with a disappointed face saw Raina scoring 33 runs off just 6 balls.

#5 Ravi Bopara (Punjab Kings)- 33 runs

It was the 34th match of IPL 2011, with Kolkata playing Kings XI Punjab at the Eden Gardens. KKR were batting and made a decent 89 runs in 12 overs. Ravi Bopara was given to bowl the 13 over with Chris Gayle on strike.

What happened next went down in the history of the most expensive overs in IPL. Chris Gayle produced power-hitting shots ending the over with 33 runs.

Making a run in the first ball, then came raining of sixes as Gayle hit four consecutive sixes. Then under pressure, Bopara threw six wides, the last two balls ended in two runs, and Gayle completely shattered Bopara's over with his batting expertise.
