The Indian Premier League is one of the most significant T20 competitions and one of most looked forward to by every cricket fan around the world. Also due to the absolute batting paradises with good wickets and short boundaries that exist in India, it doesn't come as a surprise that one of the most captivating aspects of the IPL is the high scoring ability of franchises making it one of the highest-scoring T20 leagues around the world.

Today we take a look at the different teams that have contributed the most to this factor

1) Royal Challengers Bangalore

It should come as no surprise that Royal Challengers Bangalore leads in this area. For years sticking with the timeless Virat Kohli and ever destructive AB de Villers, the Bangalore franchise has breached the 200 run mark 23 times in the Indian Premier League. Their highest score stands at 263/5 in 20 overs against Pune Warriors, which is also the highest score in the Indian Premier League. This came as a courtesy of a blistering knock from Chris Gayle scoring 175 of 66 balls.

2) Chennai Super Kings

The next name on the list is off Chennai Super Kings, one of the most dominant and successful teams in the history of IPL led by the legendary Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. CSK has crossed the 200 run barrier a total of 22 times with their highest score being 246/5 in 20 overs.

They achieved this in a match against the Rajasthan Royals, propelled by a masterclass of an innings by Murali Vijay who scored 127 of 66 balls which included 11 sixes. He was also helped with a late push deep in the innings by South African Albie Morkel who scored 62 of 34 balls.

3) Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians and the Punjab Kings also make their mark, coming in at third with both teams tied having scored 200 plus scores 16 times each in the tournament. Though Punjab Kings has had an ever-revolving side, Mumbai Indians have built a strong Indian core over the years lead by the brilliant Rohit Sharma. As it happens Mumbai Indians' highest score of 223/6 came against the Punjab Kings.

Chasing a target of 231 set by the Punjab franchise, the mighty Mumbai Indians almost pulled it off before falling short with some masterly half-centuries by Lendl Simmons and Kieron Pollard and some blistering 30s by Parthiv Patel and Hardik Pandya.

4) Punjab Kings

The Punjab franchise's highest score stands at 232 in 20 overs which came against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Punjab opener Adam Gilchrist was in an absolute destructive mood as he smashed 106 of 55 balls with 8 fours and 9 sixes. He was also joined by fellow compatriot Shaun Marsh, who scored 79 of 49 balls, who himself hit 7 fours and 5 sixes. A valiant bowling effort meant that the Punjab franchise had a huge victory and the Australian legend named man of the match.

With all franchises being part of a league and the net run rate playing a huge role in the latter stages of the tournament. Every team looks to maximize the victories from the get-go. Trying to beat their high scores match after match or finishing off the game in the least amount of over, every boundary leaves the fans purring and wanting for more.

Let us know which teams have impressed you the most and which batting lineup will you be looking forward to in the future.
