Our focus on this article will be the contest between DC and MI. The two teams have a riveting history as both have been neck to neck when they face off. Now that the sides are remodelled, it will be interesting to see how the experienced skipper Rohit Sharma and young gun Rishabh Pant go about the doings.
The sides will take the field without many of their key players as few of the Aussie players are yet to join the camp owing to international duties. The Mumbai side did look a bit rusty in the last season, can the champion side bounce back? Or will Pant guide his side to a what could be a stamping statement to initiate the tournament?

Team News
Both sides are missing out on their key players. For the Delhi Capitals, they will be without the services of opener David Warner, all-rounder Mitchell Marsha, Mustafizur Rahman and Proteas speed gun Lungi Ngidi. They will also be without their lead pacer Anrich Nortje, who is still recovering from his injury.
Mumbai Indians on the other hand find themselves in a tricky position as they will have to take the field without their middle-order star Suryakumar Yadav, who is yet to recover from the hairline fracture. Another decision that they will have to take is between Tilak Varma and Anmolpreet Singh at no.3 position.

Probable playing Xl
Delhi Capitals (DC): Prithvi Shaw, Tim Seifert, Sarfaraz Khan/Yash Dhull, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Rovman Powell, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Khaleel Ahmed/Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kuldeep Yadav, Chetan Sakariya
Mumbai Indians (MI): Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Tilak Varma/Anmolpreet Singh, Rahul Buddhi, Tim David, Kieron Pollard, Fabian Allen/Daniel Sams, Jaydev Unadkat, Tymal Mills, Murugan Ashwin/Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah
Must-Picks
Prithvi Shaw was great nick in the last season and he continued his exceptional form in the domestic circuit as well, however, his ability to play long innings has been an issue but he is likely to give the side a flying side and if he does manage to stick around, he might just bolster the fantasy line-up. MI's most expensive pick, Ishan kishan, is another must pick for the clash.
Mumbai Indians' skipper Rohit Sharma, who is the highest run-getter in this fixture and Delhi Capitals' all-rounder Shardul Thakur are our two other must picks for the 2nd match of the IPl 2022.

Captain and Vice-captain picks
Prediction
Mumbai Indians are missing out on Suryakumar Yadav and we know how difficult it will be to fill his slot. However, the relieving factor for them could be that DC are missing out on a string of players and their team composition has been greatly affected.
The bowling attack of both the sides are rather inexperienced and it will definitely boil down to the batsmen to take control of the situation. Toss isn't expected to play a huge factor given it's an afternoon encounter and for that reason batting first could be the modus operandi. Mumbai have the best skipper in this tournament and for that reason we feel the Mumbai side hold the edge in this encounter but once Delhi start featuring their best Xl, the scenario could be completely different.
