A virtual quarter final. Yes, you read that right. Who would have thought the last week table toppers Delhi Capitals and the second placed Royal Challengers Bangalore would be in a virtual quarter final to decide their fate. Such has been the intensity and competition in the Indian Premier League 2020.

The all important clash between the Virat Kohli led Royal Challenger Bangalore and Delhi Capital is scheduled to take place on Monday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The encounter marks the 55th match and also the second last league match of the IPL 2020.

The previous encounter between two sides was a one sided affair from the ball one as the Bangalore side after winning the toss chose to chase down the score. With all the batsmen getting starts and the Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis playing a wonderful innings of 53 of 26 balls, the DC managed to notch up a winning total of 196. The RCB were clueless in their chase as the wickets kept falling and the only significant contribution of their captain Virat Kohli who scored 43 runs. DC ended up on the winning side by 59 runs and the spinner Axar Patel was awarded the Man of the Match for his outstanding spell of 4-0-18-2.

Both the teams will come on the back of losses. The Delhi team were thrashed by a margin of 9 wickets by the dominant Mumbai Indians. While, the Virat Kohli led side could manage only a score of 120 against the Sunrisers. The Sunrisers who have been in good spirits in the all couple of games, made easy work of the chase as they managed to win the match with 5 wickets in hand and more than 5 overs to spare.

The winner of the clash will go through to the play-offs. As simple as that is the scenario. While only a miracle could save the losing team from elimination, the chances seem slim to none for that to happen.

Both the teams were ruling the points table at one stage but the fortunes have taken a swing now and they find themselves in a must win situation. Who out of the two do you think prevail and continue their hunt for their maiden IPL title?

Weather Report

The conditions seem well in favor of cricket as clear skies are expected throughout the day. The temperatures are on the decline and it is expected to be hovering around the 27-29 degree mark. While the humidity expected to be around the 53-56 percent range.

Pitch

The pitch in Abu Dhabi has been on the slower side but the batsmen seem to have well adjusted to the conditions as close to 400 runs were scored in the encounter between the Kings Xl Punjab and the Rajasthan Royals. The due was seen playing a vital role in the last game and is expected to play a role once again. The last two games in Abu Dhabi saw the chasing team make easy work of the totals. The team winning the toss should be looking to chase.

Team News

The Delhi Capitals have not reported any injuries. The team does have a lot of issues to address in regards to the form of the players. While the idea of Praveen Dubey replacing Axar Patel in the match against the Mumbai Indians did not work in their favor. DC could well go back to the services of Axar Patel, his experience will prove vital for the Delhi side in this must win match.

The Challengers on the other side seem to have been struggling in the last few matches as their key players have not been able to deliver. The team looks well balanced though and the management is likely to feature the same playing Xl that played against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
