Delhi Capitals will be facing Chennai Super Kings on the 17th of October. Both the teams have a winning momentum along with them but Delhi have just been on another level this season. For Chennai, the decision of sending Sam Curran as an opener turned out to be a good one as he fired a stunning 31 from just 21 balls in their win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Despite the wins, both teams were not at their best and it was quite evident that both had luck with them. Delhi managed to score only 161 after 20 overs despite their dominance until the middle overs. Only Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer were up to the mark in the game and their contributions mainly led to getting them past 150.

Rajasthan, however, were off to a great start, but courtesy of the dynamic duo of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada that the Rajasthan innings saw plenty of wickets after the 10-over mark. Tushar Deshpande was a brilliant addition too as he perfectly executed the plan at the death and Delhi won by a decent margin.

CSK’s last encounter with Delhi was not a great one either as they were shell-shocked by Prithvi Shaw’s stunning 64 that helped Delhi march towards a stunning total. On the contrary, CSK were extremely poor in getting their shots underway and it was only Faf Du Plessis who gave it all and scored a vital 43. The others lacked intent and it seemed like there was no base plan to follow.

CSK would want to change the view as they will look forward to this game as a very important one in order to survive in the tournament and make it to the playoffs without much trouble.

Weather Report

The sky is set to be clear and there are no chances of rain anticipated. It will be pleasant while the temperature is expected to drop below the 30-degree mark. It is expected to be around 28 degrees while humidity is expected to be around 45%.

Pitch

Sharjah has an image of gigantic scores in both the innings in IPL 2020., however, recent matches have seen another story. Teams have struggled to make it to 200, which seemed so obvious at the beginning of the tournament. In fact, teams that have opted to chase lately have repented the decision too as the pitch has been slower as the game progresses. Making good use of the powerplay will be very important in both the innings and aggressive batting thereby, will also create more opportunities for a wicket.

Team News

Delhi Capitals were provided with positive news that Rishabh Pant will be able to continue after his rehabilitation is completed properly. Initially, there were talks about Pant being out of the rest of the tournament, but Delhi fans will be relieved after the reports turned out to be inconclusive.

However, another bad news was on the way as Shreyas Iyer suffered an injury on his shoulder in the game against Rajasthan. That led to Iyer being off the field for the entire innings as Delhi caused Rajasthan problems. Iyer is expected to be back soon, but it may not be early enough to make it for the CSK game. However, miracles happen and even though Delhi may not risk Iyer, he may still come up for batting.

Chennai will be fielding the same lineup but may make a change or two. Playing two proper spinners at Sharjah is very unlikely but considering how the pitch has behaved recently, the management will have to make a call. If a spinner is replaced, N.Jagadeesan or Kedar Jadhav will be in contention. R. Kishore may feature too, very unlikely though.
