After a gripping 20-over contest between the two nations, which eventually ended up in favor of the hosts, 3-2. We now have the teams all set to clash against each other in the 50-over format. The first match of the 3-match series is scheduled to be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, this Tuesday.
Both the teams showcased some exemplary gameplay in the shortest format and with the results we saw in the recently concluded series, the ODIs could only get better. The teams do have some changes made in their side as India have decided to include Krunal Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Prasidh Krishna in their squad. The English side will be without the services of Jofra Archer, who is rested for this series.
The last time the two sides met in a bilateral 50-over series was back in July of 2018, in England. The series went in favor of the Englishmen, 2-1. Though that time the series revolved around Joe Root, who amassed 216 runs in the 3-matches. With Joe Root now not a part of the English limited-overs line-up. Can they create the same impact on the Men in Blue?
The series stands out to be an important one in terms of the ICC rankings as well. Both nations find themselves at top of the table and a 3-0 white-wash by the hosts will see them replace Eoin Morgan and Co. at the top of the table. Can India continue their winning run? Or will England cement their place at the top of the rankings?

The conditions are ideal for cricket as clear skies are forecasted and no chance of rain whatsoever. The temperature is expected to be hovering in the 33-27 degree Celsius and the humidity at the peak is likely to touch the 27 percent mark.
The strip at the MCAS is known to be ideal for batting as the ball is expected to come onto the bat well. The pacers may be able to extract some movement in the early stages of the innings but nothing is to be expected once the pitch has eased out. The spinners usually get some assistance at this venue but nothing significant. The team winning the toss should be looking to bowl first as once again the dew is expected to play a vital role. We might be looking at an aggregate close to the 600 range.
With Suryakumar Yadav in impeccable form, it would be a crime to not include him in the playing Xl. KL Rahul was seen struggling to get going and for that reason, we could be seeing Shikhar Dhawan open the innings along with Rohit Sharma. Jasprit Bumrah being rested and Mohammad Shami still recovering from his injury, the bowling unit will be once again led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
England will be without the services of Jofra Archer, who is being rested for this series. Reece Topley looks like an ideal replacement for the spearhead. The batting department is likely to remain the same as that featured in the T20Is. Dawid Malan is not included in their ODI set-up, which does mean that hard-hitter Liam Livingstone might make his debut for the England side in ODIs.
