The much awaited Sunday BBL doubleheader will kickstart with the Perth Scorchers locking horns with the Melbourne Renegades at the Perth Stadium. This will be the first match of this season to be played at this venue and also marks the 25th match of the Big Bash League 2020.

Both the teams find themselves dwelling at the bottom of the table. Scorchers are placed 6th in the table with 6 points and a game in hand. The Renegades find themselves languishing at the bottom of the table with just one win from 6 games and they will have to play out of their skins from now on to find a spot in the play-offs.

The previous encounter between these two sides was played at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart and the match still remains the only win for the Renegades in this season. The Scorchers after winning the toss elected to bat first and the brilliant pace attack of Lalor and Richardson of Renegades ensured the Perth side was reduced to 130 in their 20 overs. The opening stand of 70 runs between the skipper Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh made sure that Renegades got over the line.

Perth Scorchers after a streak of losses finally managed to break the shackles in the match against Strikers. The Renegades were once again on the receiving end against the Thunders in the match played on Friday.

Can the Scorchers continue their winning momentum? Will the Renegades manage to crawl their way up in the points table?

Weather Report

Clear skies with no chances of rain whatsoever, an ideal evening for cricket is on the cards. The temperature is expected to be hovering in the 25-19 degrees range and humidity at the peak is likely to touch the 38% percent mark.

Pitch

The pitch has not been used for International cricket now for over a year. The last few matches played here have been on the low scoring side and we can expect the same. The ball will not be coming onto the bat like the other pitches in Australia and for that reason the bowlers could finally start to dictate the proceedings. The team winning the toss should be looking to chase.

Team News

Scorchers seem to have finally found their winning form. They seem to have found the balance between the bat and ball. Few changes in the batting order looks likely but they are likely to feature the same playing Xl that won against the Adelaide Strikers.

Renegades on the other side have tried several changes but it just does not look like their season. The team has been completely rested on the shoulders of Shaun Marsh. The rest of them need to step up if they are to make an inroad in the tournament before it is too late. Australian pacer Mitchell Perry was on the expensive side and he is likely to be replaced by experienced Josh Lalor.
