The much anticipated T20 global league- Big Bash League 2020 began on Thursday and the inaugural match took place between the Hobart Hurricanes and last season’s champions Sydney Sixers.

The 2nd match of BBL 2020 will see Melbourne stars lock horns with Brisbane Heat at Manuka Oval in Canberra. Last season saw the teams clash against each other on two occasions and they stand one apiece. Both of the teams have been very tough to separate on sheets and this does promise to be an exciting encounter.

Melbourne Stars finished their season on top of the last time 20 points. While, Brisbane finished 7th on the table with 12 points, doing only better than Melbourne Renegades.

Melbourne Stars who finished on top last season ended up as the runners-up after losing to Sydney Sixers by 19 runs in the final.

Can the Melbourne side start their campaign with a win and replicate the same performance as last season? Will Brisbane Heat be able to get past the Stars and open their account in the BBL 2020?

Weather Report

The conditions are expected to be ideal for cricket as clear skies as expected throughout the day. The players will feel a bit relieved as the temperatures have been dropping, it is expected to be hovering in the range of 17-12 degree celsius and the humidity is anticipated to reach the 47 percent mark at peak.

Pitch

Manuka Oval has been known to be friendly to the batsmen and we did see that in the recently concluded T20I series between Australia and India. With every very little or say nothing for the bowlers, one can expect a high-scoring match on the cards. The team winning the toss should be looking to chase.

Team News

Melbourne Stars will be feeling disappointed as they will be missing their key players which includes the likes of English wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow. Said that the 2019 runners-up will be feeling boosted as they have two of the best Australian all-rounders in their side- Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinins. The inclusion of West Indian wicket-keeper batsman Nicholas Pooran and his countryman Andre Fletcher makes the team one of the strongest in the tournament.

Brisbane Heat on the other side will be without the services of much talked Tom Banton. The English opener who is very well known for his hard-hitting will be missing out. For that reason, the batting line-up will heavily depend on their skipper Chris Lynn. Heat will also be missing out on their key spinner Mitchell Swepson as he is called for International duty.
