Gabba is all set to host their first match of the Big Bash League 2020 on Wednesday. The 13th match of the BBL 2020 will feature the bottom dwellers Brisbane Heat and fourth-placed Adelaide Strikers.

Heat find themselves at the bottom of the table despite having several big names which include the likes of skipper Chris Lynn. Brisbane Heat has 1 point to their name from the 2 matches so played so far. While the Strikers find themselves in the middle of the table with 5 points from the 3 games played so far. Said that a thumping win with a bash point for Chris Lynn and Co. could see them leap to the 4th place on the table.

Both the teams will come into this match on the back of losses. Heat were made to taste defeat by Sydney Thunder, courtesy of brilliant innings of 65* of 25 balls by the Thunder’s star all-rounder Daniel Sams. Strikers after a comfortable 5-wicket win over the Hobart Hurricanes in their first match were shown the worst by Sydney Sixers.

Brisbane Heat does need a move on and this could be the right match for them. Can Chris Lynn guide his team to a respectable place on the points table? Or will the Strikers claim the 3rd spot?

Weather Report

The conditions are expected to be quite in favor of cricket. The partly clouding could cause a slight delay during the game though not threatening enough to disrupt the result. The temperature is expected to hover in the 28-22 degree range and the humidity at the peak is likely to touch the 49 percent mark.

Pitch

The pitch in Gabba like the Manuka Oval is in favor of the batsman. Said that the fast bowlers could use the overcast conditions in their favor. Given the record of the ground, a score of 170 plus by the team batting first is likely to put the chasing team in a spot of bother.

Team News

Brisbane Heat have not reported any injuries. Though on sheets they have not registered a win yet, the team does look well balanced. The bowling has let them down in both the matches and for that reason we could see the experienced South African Morne Morkel make it to the playing Xl. He is likely to replace Ben Laughlin in the line-up.

Adelaide Strikers did do a wonderful job in their match but could not replicate that in the second game against Sydney Sixers. The line-up does look stable and the management would not be looking to change the settled playing Xl on the back of one loss.
