The Big Bash League 2020 has already shown us why it is one of the most celebrated and followed global T20 leagues and the quality of matches this year has only backed those claims. With just three weeks for the grand finale, the 39th match of the BBL 2020 is set to take place between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades at Manuka Oval, this Thursday.

The Heat will be coming into this match on the back of a defeat. The Heat who lost to Sydney Sixers in their last match by 3 wickets were dropped to the 6th position and the defeat also ended their winning streak at three. A win here for them with the bash point could see them jump to the 5th place and also get in par with the Strikers and Scorchers on points.

Renegades on the other hand managed to win a game after seven consecutive defeats. The Renegades were made to chase by the Strikers and Aaron Finch and Co. The Renegades once again started their chase poorly but this time around the Afghani all-rounder Mohammad Nabi had different plans. The 36-year old played a spirited knock of 71* of 41 balls and ensured his team were still alive in the race to the play-offs.

The teams will be meeting each other for the first time this season. The teams have played 13 matches between them and the Renegades dominate the head to head count with 10 matches, while the Heat have been on the winning side only on three occasions.

A defeat here for the Renegades will end their race to the play-offs. Can they keep themselves alive? Or will Chris Lynn and Co. end their chances?

Weather Report

The conditions are ideal for cricket as clear skies are expected throughout the duration of the day. The temperature is expected to be hovering in the 32- 27 degree Celsius and the humidity at the peak is likely to touch the 28 percent mark. There is a 10% precipitation forecast but it does not look threatening.

Pitch

The Manuka Oval as we know is a belter. The runs expected to come by easily and we can once again expect a high-scoring encounter. The pitch is not expected to change much during the course of the game but the team winning the toss should be looking to bat first and let the scoreboard pressure take on the chasing team.

The Heat will also have  in mind that they are yet to win a match against the Renegades when chasing.

Team News

Heat have looked completely different ever since the return of their skipper and the last game against the Sixers was too in their control if not for the brilliance of Daniel Christian, who stole the game from Chris Lynn and Co. Joe Denly has been finding it really difficult to get going and is yet to contribute for his team. With the business end nearing, the Heat would not be looking to risk their chances and we could hard-hitting Australian Sam Heazlett replace him for this encounter.

Renegades finally managed to break their shackles but will have to once again take the field without their prime batsman- Shaun Marsh. The team does look well balanced and the form of the skipper does look concerning. But given his experience and potential, it is only a matter of time he scores big.
