The second ODI of the three-match series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka is set to be played on Tuesday, 25th May, at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The hosts took a 1-0 lead in the series with a 33-run victory in the first ODI. The Tigers scored 257 runs for 6 wickets and The Lankans failed to achieve the target as the team fell for just 224 runs.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Bangladesh got off to a slow start. However, half-centuries from skipper Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mahmudullah meant Bangladesh finished with a decent score. Sri Lanka looked never in the chase as wickets at regular intervals meant Bangladesh always held the upper hand.

Though Wanindu Hasaranga scored a fighting 74, no support from the rest of the Lankan batsmen meant the task was off-tall order. Brilliant bowling from Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman, taking four and three respectively, had masterfully curtailed the Sri Lankan innings.

Can Sri Lanka come up with the all-important win to level the series? Or will Bangladesh win the series taking victory tomorrow?

Weather Conditions

Chances of rain are on the cards for this match, with some showers expected to fall around the evening. The temperature remains hot and humid, with an average temperature of around 34 degrees celsius. A shortened second innings might come into play.

Pitch

The pitch in Dhaka was tricky in the first ODI, with it being a good one for the batsmen but also assisting the spinners throughout the game as they took 10 out of 16 wickets. With some purchase for the fast bowlers also available, the team winning the toss would look to bat first considering the overcast conditions that could impact the surface.

Team News

The Bangladesh management would look to stick with the same playing XI they fielded for the first ODI. With some excellent all-round performances in both batting and bowling departments. Both Mohammad Mithun and Liton Das will look to improve and make up for their ducks from the last match.

The Lankan management could also opt to stick with the same playing XI after sticking with the young guns for the first ODI. Pathum Nissanka could make way for Niroshan Dickwella, after scoring just fifty runs in four outings. Kusal Perera will continue to lead the side and keep the wickets for the Lankans.
