The three-match ODI series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka is set to be underway with all the games being hosted in the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. The first encounter is set to be played on Sunday, May 23.

Both teams have tended to underperform at the International stage in recent years, coming off heavy defeats in recent plays. The Tigers had a winless tour of New Zealand and then lost the second Test to the Lankans in Pallekele last month. While the Lankans themselves faced a whitewash against the West Indians in their last ODI series.

The series will be part of the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup Super League. Bangladesh is sixth in the points table with three 30 points from six matches having three wins and defeats each. Sri Lanka is 12th with -2 negative points having three defeats from three matches played.

Will Sri Lanka assert their dominance as shown in their recent test series against Bangladesh? Or Will the Tigers capitalize on the turmoil in the Lankan camps and turn things around?

Weather Conditions

Ideal conditions for cricket as clear skies are expected throughout the course of the day. With temperatures expected to be hovering around 28 - 36 degrees celsius and humidity at its peak is likely to touch the 61% mark.

Pitch

Given that this will be the first cricketing competition to be held on this ground after some time, the team batting first will find it easier in their efforts to score runs until the dust settles making it an even competition between bat and ball. With enough purchase for both pacers and spinners, teams chasing targets have found more success on this ground.

Team News

Shakib Al Hasan makes his return after missing out on the New Zealand tour due to parental duties but is fresh from playing in the 2021 IPL. Also confirmed news is that of Mushfiqur Rahim to don the keeping gloves. Liton Das is looking to make amends after his horrendous outings against the Black Caps. Taskin Ahmed will be tasked with leading the bowling efforts.

Sri Lanka goes in with a new-look side, with Kusal Perera appointed the new Sri Lankan skipper and Kusal Mendis as vice-captain. The team will be expected to step up by leaps and bounds after dropping senior players. Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews, and former skipper Dimuth Karunaratne. Perera will be hoping that he can inspire this relatively inexperienced side to success.
